And we are back once again. December has arrived, far too quickly some may say; it doesnt seem that long ago we were hitting the Summer music festivals and raving until the early hours surrounded by the warmer weather, but there we go.
Anyway, we have just received our newest mixtape for the Mnuvrs Mixtape Vault and it comes straight from across the pond in NYC from our now good friends the JACUZZI KILLERS. You may recognise the name, the boys also run a very popular blog over at JacuzziKillers.com. However, the guys are spreading their wings and frankly, flying like pro’s. Jakae & Keylow’s passion for music has naturally progressed them into creating their own remixes/edits and original tracks and for that very reason we thought we get them to produce our third mixtape and it’s killa! Taking us on a journey with stops at classic destination such as The Chemical Brothers, Hervé & A-Trak, Bonde Do Role and Boys Noize, the duo also take us to some other suitable places of interest such as their very own remixes of 87 Stick Up Kidz and Franz Ferdinand. This mix has everything, new and old, some Bassline, Electro, House, Techno and even Zero 7′s classic masterpiece Destiny. So go ahead and enjoy what is certainly going to warm up this cold winter evening for many people we are sure!
Jacuzzi Killers Biography:
The NYC duo Jacuzzi Killers consists of Jakae & Keylow, two childhood friends that recently began making music together for the second time. The pair met in grammar school at the age of 8, where they both shared an eclectic taste in music. United through everything from 90′s hip hop to classic rock, punk/metal, and electronic/rave; the two hit it off instantly. A few years later they began recording experimental beats/songs using drum machines & loops, bass, guitar, and a primitive sequencer where they first learned the basics of production and recording. The pair continued to grow as musicians, and throughout their teens they played in several live bands; but before anything significant could develop the collaborations were put on hold while Jakae went away for university.
Fast forward to the summer of 2007, Jakae and Keylow were re-united musically and also through the birth of their now well-known Jacuzzi Killers music blog, which was formed to help quality underground artists get the exposure they deserve. From here on out they began experimenting with their own brand of electronic music, heavily influenced by what they were listening to (Aphex Twin, Justice, Daft Punk, Hot Chip, 90s Hip Hop, Boys Noize, Miami Bass Music, Midnight Juggernauts, etc..) and also inspired by the slough of high quality bedroom productions they were receiving through the blog. At first the collaborations were all just for fun, but over time they began to mix their own tracks into their DJ sets and after receiving a great response from friends and listeners, they decided to start taking their producing/remixing a bit more seriously.
In the their very short (recent) history producing together, the two have remixed Franz Ferdinand, 87 Stick Up Kids, Division Kent, Digitalism, and Ghostface Killah; with a few more on the horizon. They have also started producing some original tracks and continue to hone their DJ skills after recently transitioning to Ableton Live. You can catch them at various spots around the NYC area, and they would like to expand their remix catalog and are open to all propositions.
So what are Jacuzzi Killers’ plans for the future? “Well we’d really love to have a chance to do some more remixes and live shows…but mainly we just want to continue to have fun making music, maintain a quality music blog to help expose our favorite artists, and hopefully gain a few fans in the process.”uzzi Killers MySpace
