Mixmags first tour in 8 years, so it had to be something special. A big lineup including the likes of Hervé, The Friendly Fires, Riton all played, and i tell you what, they didn't disappoint. The Egg, just a few minutes walk North of Kings Cross, is an intricate club with lots of winding stair wells and intimate rooms and a cracking venue for this event. A Funktion One soundsystem was specially bought in for this hyped up evening (i received about 8 Facebook messages, how many did everyone else get?) and the only thing that disappointed was the mass chaos which was trying to get into the club. It seemed that it was quicker to enter if you weren't on a guest list, making a mockery of the process. With approximately 6 different queues to join there was more people confused than pissed. However, once we managed to navigate our way inside the venue the partying started, we found ourselves in the main room immediately listening to a warm up DJ, who despite having a good selection of tunes, was a little less impressive on the actual mixing of them. However, the room erupted when Hervé came on a got in full swing, playing the usual bass heavy suspects; Sinden, Drop The Lime etc etc (I'm struggling to recall exact tracks due to the level of intoxicating liquids consumed). So all in all a cracking evening. THANK YOU MIXMAG. And the overall consensus from Mnuvrs is: If you get the opportunity to hit this party in a city near you then do it! It'll be a cracker. We are excited to have just found that the Mnuvrs team will be attending The Mixmag Tour Launch Party at The Egg (Kings Cross, London) on Friday 17th October. The lineup to this event is massive and it promises to be a cracking evening. The party is booked to last for 12 hours, starting at 10pm on Friday night and carrying on right through to 10am Saturday morning. As it stands the lineup is as follows: Friendly Fires, Hervé, Riton, Little Boots, J Wilkes (Optimo) We will be taking lots of photos at the event and will aim to get a review up here @ Mnuvrs on Saturday. Loser! ;-) Anyways Fools Gold is an ultra hip label straight out of the US housing some of the freshest artists from our friends way out West: A-Trak (Fools Gold Co-Founder), Kid Sister, Kid Cudi, Jokers of The Scene, the list goes on. The label have just announced dates for their new four city tour, which unfortunately only touches down state side in Miami, Atlanta, Philly & Baltimore. The new tour is in fact in aid of the new Scion CD Sampler that has been released. The CD is a great intro to the Fools Gold label and what they are about with Disc 1 containing 8 remixes of Fools Gold tracks and Disc 2 containing further tracks from the label mixed by their very own NICK CATCHDUBS (Fools Gold Co-Founder). I have had the good fortune to catch some of the remixes from this compilation and man do they hit the spot. Fools Gold have not held back one bit with the producers they have bought in to remix for them, the tracklist includes remixes by Rusko, Surkin and Shadow Dancer to name but a few. And for me it is the Rusko remix of Kid Sister's "Pro Nails" which stands out an absolute mile. An absolute sub destoying bassline if ever there was one combined with Kid Sisters stateside attitude results in a dancefloor BOMB! KABOOM!
